"8th may 1945 was the prelude to the great November Revolution. There is no doubt that the memory of this day expresses the firm determination of the Algerian people in the face of its enemies, from the initial invasion of its territory".

Tragic events caused a decision turning point. On the same day on which the civilized world was celebrating the victory over Nazism, to which Algerians had given a considerable contribution, in several towns in our country, tens of thousands of patriots claimed their right to liberty, in the name of the same principles.

For which they had fought with the allies. Colonialist forces responded with bloody respression: 45.000 dead and thousand of victims in our towns and countrysides, ravaged by blood and fire. This was the spark which caused the explosion. The colonialists had shown their real face. It was no longer time to talk or vainly agitate in parliament. Armed combat was established as the only method of opening the way to liberation and sovereignty.
